tumbleweed valley of fire

Bagged this on the way back to the motel from the Valley of Fire. Lacking a decent sunset location I came across these mountains that ran East to West, and thought they might catch the morning sun.

And they did!

The skeletal white of the bush made an interesting foreground, and with some cajoling of the tripod, I managed to find a composition I was happy with. The mountains certainly lived up to the state park’s moniker, and lit ablaze once the sun crested.

You can barely see it on this 500px version, but in the original, there’s some nice highlights on the bushes tips, as well as on the soil just in front of the bush from the sidelighting.
