Landscape photography of a winding house nestled in the steep gallery walls of Dinorwic Quarry

winding House

In a remote corner of the massive Dinowric quarry, nestled in the galleries lies this remarkably complete winding house.

It appears simultaneously apart from, and part of, the blasted landscape; constructed from the waste slate cut from the very gallery walls it hugs against within.

Rain lashed the quarry enriching the texture and colour of the stone, a touch of autumn on the lone birch adding the pop of colour the scene needed.
