A lone tree grows deep in the bowls of a quarry pit in Dinorwic, Snowdonia

The great gallery

In this section of Dinorwic, the so called quarry that ate a mountain, the scale of man’s toil is truly on display by the vaulting galleries of the Wellington district as the vault into the air towering over this lone winding house and sparse birch; giving sense to the scale of the scars on the landscape.
